Background:
We received this truck as a trade from an engine rebuild we did and unfortunately, she didn’t last too long shortly after. With the heater core blown, transmission not shifting into any gear, and the engine tired from 137,000 hard miles as a former life of a bucket truck, we figured it was time for some upgrades. Let’s go over the baseline of what we’re starting with.
Project Truck Baseline:
- Class 4 Truck – GVWR 15,000lbs
- 1991 GMC 3500HD Bucket Truck (Minus Bucket)
- 7.4L (454 cid)
- GM 4L80E 4, speed w/ OD
- Dana 80 Rear Axle
With a stout platform to start with no doubt, We’ll be changing the truck over to diesel and cleaning up the frame to give it an undercoat. Here is the projected build.
Projected Final Build:
- CAT 3116
- RT6610 10-Speed (Tentatively)
- Undercoated Frame
- Super Single Rear Wheel Conversion
- Flat Deck Bed w/ Equipment
