The Importance of Flushing...
Having a clean and maintained watercraft is the reason why it will be reliable when you’re out on the water. Regardless if you ride in freshwater or saltwater it is important to always flush your engine out after every ride. Flushing removes salt, sand, algae, weeds, and shells from the engine and prevents damage and corrosion.
Salt being a corrosive element can also corrode fiberglass over time resulting in unnecessary repairs and additional costs. If you do ride in primarily saltwater, it is a good idea to wash down the jet ski after every use with mild soap and warm water and rinse off the watercraft at low pressure.
Most newer Jet skis come equipped with a hose connection for flushing. Attach this hose to the connector before starting your engine. Once the engine is running then turn on the hose and let the engine run for about 2-4 minutes. Once you feel sufficient time has passed then turn off the water and let the engine run enough to clear out the exhaust with a few snaps of the throttle. Always keep your engine running with water at all times.
